The infamous Crimson Sweet variety was born in 1964 from breeder C.V. Hall of Kansas State University. This wonderful cross between two great heirlooms 'Peacock and Chubby Gray's immediately became an AAS award winner in 1964 and continues to delight everyone with its exceptional sweetness and great eating qualities. Crimson sweet holds the bar high for what a watermelon is supposed to be.
Crimson Sweet has plenty of natural sugar making it exceptionally sweet for eating. 20-25 pound melons are the perfect size to chill for a refreshing summer treat. Crimson Sweet watermelons are a heat-loving and surprisingly drought-tolerant crop that does well in the hottest part of summer.
