Introduced by Dr. James Baggett at Oregon State University. Legend is a bushy, determinate, regular-leaf tomato plant that yields early-bearing, 14 to 16-ounce, 3 to 4-inch, smooth, round, blemish-free, red tomatoes. The fruit has wonderful, delicious sweet flavors that are balanced well with just the right amount of acidity to invite praise. Very few seeds. This tomato was also bred to be resistant to late blight fungus. A great salad tomato and canning tomato.
Ready May 8
Plant outdoors when danger of frost is past and night temperatures consistently remain above 55 degrees Fahrenheit. If an unexpected late frost is forecasted, protect young plants with plastic sheeting or other cover, or simply bring the container indoors. Determinates can be spaced 18-24 inches apart. Tomatoes can be buried up to the top 2 sets of leaves.
