Petunias are versatile plants that can grow in pots, hanging baskets, or in the ground. They need at least 5 or 6 hours of good sunlight, and will perform even better when located in full sun all day. The more shade they receive, the fewer flowers they'll produce. Petunias also need rich, fertile soil that provides good drainage and is slightly acidic (pH 6 to 6.5).
