The ZZ plant (Zamioculcas zamiifolia) is a low-maintenance, easy-to-grow houseplant. It's native to East Africa, including Tanzania and Zanzibar.
 
It has shiny, wide, oval-shaped leaves that grow upwards on tall, graceful stems. ZZ plant  can grow in low light levels and tolerate a lack of water. It can grow in almost any location. However, the ZZ plant is toxic to people and dogs if ingested.
